Salvatore Sidoti, PhD

Dr. Sidoti is a Senior Biostatistician at the Suicide CPR Initiative and an Assistant Professor of Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He earned his doctorate in Applied Biostatistics and Behavioral Ecology from The Ohio State University in 2023, where his dissertation research investigated transgenerational effects of stress on behavior.
Before joining the Suicide CPR Initiative, Dr. Sidoti served as a biostatistician in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics at USU, where he provided statistical consulting for military medicine research and taught graduate courses, including Statistics in Neuroscience. He has also held positions as a Biomedical Statistician at the Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute at The Ohio State University, where he led research on the health impacts of burn pit exposure among military veterans, and as a contract statistician with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Dr. Sidoti's current research focuses on developing transparent, reproducible analytical frameworks for comparing suicide rates between active duty service members and the U.S. civilian population. His work addresses critical methodological challenges in military-civilian suicide rate comparisons, including demographic adjustments and the influence of broader societal factors on military suicide trends. He brings expertise in advanced statistical methodology, including Bayesian methods, machine learning applications in medicine, and clinical trial design.
