Melissa Mehalick, PhD
Dr. Mehalick earned her Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology with concentrations in neuroscience and quantitative analyses. Her research background includes studying chronic pain management and opioid tolerance, as well as understanding the physiological effects of mild traumatic brain injury on behavior and the gut microbiome. More recently, she has shifted her research studies to military suicide prevention. Dr. Mehalick served for three years on active duty in the United States Navy as a Research Psychologist in the Department of Neurotrauma at Naval Medical Research Center. Prior to joining the Suicide CPR Initiative, she served as a Portfolio Manager in the Army and the Defense Health Agency where she was responsible for strategically planning, budgeting, and executing research investments within military psychological health.
